WELCOME TO THE
LIBRARY MEDIA CENTERS
FOR LYME AND MILE CREEK SCHOOLS
The goal of the Lyme/Old Lyme Library Media Centers is to encourage reading, support research and lifelong learning, and provide free resources for both students and staff. Our collections are made up of books, online databases and software. Students and staff are encouraged to borrow materials from the Library Media Center for both school related projects, individual interests and pleasure reading.
Students have a scheduled library class once a week for 45 minutes. The Library Media Specialist also meets with classes and or small groups outside of the scheduled time when necessary or requested.
Students may take out the number of books equal to their grade level. Kindergarten and first grade take out one book to help encourage responsibility. In second grade they can take out two and in third grade three books, and so on. We encourage the students to try different genres as they get older and hope they will have a novel they love while still enjoying a picture book or non-fiction selection. Books are due back on the next class time unless they would like to renew. Talk with your Librarian about the renewal process for your school.
There are many activities that take place in the Library space in addition to classes. There may be small group instruction, club meetings, book groups, Spanish classes, PTO meetings and faculty meetings. Our Libraries are busy, bustling places and we wouldn't have it any other way!!
If you have any questions please click the drop down and ask a Librarian, OR ask us in person. This site has been created with the students in mind, please enjoy the experience.
