June 1, 2020
Over the next two weeks there will be a lot to look for from the Library.
Click HERE for a video with lots of information from Mrs. Marchese.
Here is a list of the assignments I mention in the video:
1. Use the virtual library to find a book and read, then tell me what you are reading in the library folder of Seesaw. If you are reading an actual book and not a virtual book I want to know about that too!
2. Watch for information about how to return your library books and then return them
3. Look for information about our summer learning activities
4. Feel free to browse any of the tabs (Like the "Listen" tab or the "Watch" tab) on this website to explore activities you may not have done!
I will be updating this page as we get more information regarding the Read. Explore. Learn! website and more information from Miss Julie and Miss Nike at The Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library.
Here is the link I mentioned for how to find your way around the virtual library.
This is the link from Mrs. Whelan about how to access Clever and Classlink from your home devices.

Many of you have heard about Chris Van Allsburg’s book Jumanji. There have been movies made about this particular book. One was made with an actor named Robin Williams in 1995 and most recently there has been another remake with actor Dwayne Johnson. All of those stories started with this book. There are tons of marketing tools that people use when promoting a book or a movie. Many times there are giant posters in movie theaters advertising the movie.
1. Listen to the book Jumanji.
2. Look at the posters Chris Van Allsburg created and pay attention to how the pictures encompass the idea of each festival he was advertising.
Optional activities:
1. This quarantine is a time we will remember for years to come. If you had to explain this time of your life and advertise things to do should it ever happen again, what would that look like? If you are inspired, create a poster or picture of what this quarantine represents for you. Try to use as little words as possible and describe in pictures. Use Chris Van Alssburg’s posters as templates if you need inspiration. Once you finish take a picture and upload it to the Library Folder in Seesaw
2. Watch the 1995 version of Jumanji movie and compare it to the book we read. If you choose this activity upload a little video with your comparisons in the library folder of Seesaw.
Read the reviews and watch this trailer of the 1995 movie Jumanji on Common Sense Media.
